Almost every year, Android fans are on the edge of their seats, awaiting the arrival of their new friend. They hold their breaths for the new Nexus models from Google. This year, Google partnered with HTC to bring two new additions to the famed Nexus series – the Marlin and the Sailfish. The Marlin is the big brother with better specifications and bigger size. But both these models have their work cut out, because they will have to outdo their predecessors – the 6P and the 5X. Recently, some specification-related information was released. We will now look at some of these details.
Design
If the rumours and leaks are to be believed, then both the Marlin and the Sailfish will come with a gray and black two tone design at the back, complemented by a glossy material, perhaps glass. But the Marlin will come with a metal frame, as compared to rumoured plastic frame of the Sailfish. This diversification is owing to the fact that HTC wants to market the Sailfish as a low budget Nexus model.
Display
As per the rumours, HTC and Google plan on keeping the display of the new devices clean and problem free, which means no 4K resolution, or curved edges. The Marlin will come with a 5.5 inch screen for sure, as it is believed to be bigger in size, with a jaw dropping screen resolution of 1440×2560. The Sailfish, however, will be 5 inches, being the smaller model, and with support a screen resolution of 1080×1920, which is quite impressive for any low end phone.
Hardware
The HTC Marlin and Sailfish devices will be available to all with Snapdragon 820 processor powered by 4 GB RAM, giving it a high level of performance. But if rumours are to be believed, then the Snapdragon 821 could make an impressive debut on the high-end Marlin.
Camera
In the photography department, both Marlin and Sailfish are believed to be fitted with a 13 megapixel primary camera for all the photographers out there, and a powerful 8 megapixel front camera for all the selfiholics. This information is purely an assumption. Users might have to wait for the actual release to find out if HTC made any changes in the camera department. But all in all, 13 MP and 5 MP seem to sound good enough for any smartphone owner. The price level is the main concern at this point for the buyers
